Radiana made it through to the finals in the Air Conditioning Innovation of the Year category at the 2020 RAC Cooling Industry Awards. Although we didn't win, we are honoured to have had our innovative alternative to air-con considered for this prestigious award.
Shortlisted in one of 17 categories celebrating the environmental progress of the refrigeration and air conditioning industry, Radiana’s entry challenges traditional cooling methods with an alternative system which is far healthier and better for the environment, using radiant cooling technology.
In its entry, Radiana stated: ‘It’s time for a change’, citing the numerous environmental benefits of radiant cooling solutions over air conditioning systems. It talked about Radiana’s innovative features, details on installation, operation and maintenance, and provided case study evidence of installation examples in commercial and residential environments.
Sheldon Cooper, Radiana Pre Contracts Director, said: “For decades, air conditioning has been installed to keep buildings cool – but this is a process designed for industrial environments and is polluting, dehumidifying, unhealthy and wastes energy.
“We want to educate the industry on radiant cooling as an innovation and shift change in technology. We want to help others see the benefits of moving away from convection-based cooling solutions and discover the radiant alternatives which might be particularly suited to our homes and work spaces in the future – in particular how Radiana can help reduce the risk of virus transmission.”
Radiana is a modular plasterboard ceiling panel which conditions a building’s environment using radiation in a way which is totally in harmony with nature. It was launched it in the UK last summer and at the time of entering the Cooling Awards, had been installed in 22 residential and commercial properties.
Sheldon continued: “To have been shortlisted for the prestigious Cooling Awards is a huge achievement and tells us people are ready for change!”
